MAU Vegas – Perform[cb]’s Travel Guide to Las Vegas
This July, Affiliate World Europe is headed to Barcelona, Spain for their three-day conference. The event is in its fourth year and has quickly become one of the top conventions of its kind. The Adperio Team is looking forward to the panels, exhibitions, and exploring beautiful Barcelona. We have created our guide to Barcelona, from incredible museums, majestic cathedrals, and an impressive variety of nightlife, there is no shortage of ways to spend your time in the Catalonian capital.
To help you map out your trip to one of the most popular destinations in the world, we’ve compiled a list of Adperio’s “Must Dos” in our guide to Barcelona.
Places to See
The Sagrada Família
This basilica is one of the most famous in the world due to the fact that after 140 years, it is still not finished. When it is completed, it will be the tallest church structure in the world. There is no consistent style to the architecture because of how trends have changed throughout the construction of the basilica which makes this a Barcelona must-see.
Barri Gótic (Gothic Quarter)
As the oldest part of Barcelona, spending time in the Gothic Quarter is pretty much mandatory for anyone who loves history. Because of its location right off of the city center, this is a lively area filled with Medieval-era architecture. There are cafes, bars, and charming plazas lining the narrow, winding roads. Throw the map away and just wander; see what you can find!
Things to Do
Visit Camp Nou
Home to arguably one of the best and most famous soccer (fútbol) clubs in the world, this stadium hosts the 99,000 fans that come to support F.C. Barcelona throughout their season. Considered a “football cathedral,” even non-fans are amazed by the size and quality of the arena. And if you are a fan, you’ll be in Barca heaven touring the stadium and browsing the displayed memorabilia. This is certainly a fantastic way to spend a part of your day in Barcelona, and it’s even better if you’re there on a match day.
Take a Bike Tour
From group to private tours, biking is a great way to see the sights of Barcelona. With an informative and experienced tour guide, a bike tour can be one of the most effective ways to learn about and enjoy what the city has to offer. There are monument rides, beach rides, and tours for aspiring photographers trying to get their Insta-worthy pictures. You just have to choose the one that matches your interests.
Navigate Through the Labyrinth Park of Horta
A “secret” of Barcelona, the Labyrinth Park and surrounding gardens began in 1791 by the wealthy Desvalls family. The manicured hedges create over 2,000 feet of a twisted maze that can most definitely be beneficial for any team bonding. If you make it to the center, you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful statue of Eros (the Greek God of Love). There are pavilions that overlook the maze and have their own Greek statues along with a pond at one end of the park. Since the labyrinth is typically overlooked by tourists, this storybook-esque garden is perfect for anyone looking for a unique activity.
Places to Eat
Acces
For a more luxurious evening out, a dinner at Acces is the way to go. It’s on the pricier side, but its food will more than justify the cost. The location is perfect, right in the center of the city, and the unique design of the restaurant will leave you breathless. You can observe your dish being made through the open kitchen or be surprised when your plate arrives at the table.
Bo Kaap
What appears to be a seemingly random shack on the beach is actually one of the most highly rated restaurants in all of Barcelona. Fun, colorful, and known for their exceptional staff, Bo Kaap has a great customer retention rate. The delicious food and view of the beach make this restaurant difficult to pass up.
Where to Drink
Creps al Born
Featuring delicious cocktails and unique bar foods (like crepes), the vibe of Creps al Born makes it a place you won’t want to leave.
Negroni
This special cocktail bar has no menu; all you have to do is tell the bartender your flavor profile and then marvel at the drink creation given to you.
Opium
Home of the second largest dance club in the world, Opium hosts world-renowned DJs and local legends regularly. To get the full experience, locals and travelers alike will dance all night to catch sunrise on the beach in back.
Tips and Tricks
- If you’re going to be using the city’s metro more often than not, you’ll get your money out of the 10-trip pass that can be purchased in advance or at any metro station.
- With Barcelona being such a popular destination for travelers, you need to be constantly aware of where your valuables are at all times (think cell phone, wallet, passport, etc). Keep them out of sight and secure while wandering around!
- Only carry around as much money as you need for each day. Only taking a portion with you ensures you have backup funds in the event of getting robbed.
